Microsoft Beach House - Cannes

At the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, I found myself immersed in the future of advertising, a theme poignantly captured at the Microsoft Beach House. As Director of Photography for this event, the approach needed was discreet, with a minimal footprint. I traveled to France equipped with my video journalism kit, which included the Canon C300 Mark 3 in a modular ENG setup and a pair of Sound Devices Mix Pre recorders. One recorder was dedicated to an all-day feed from the soundboard, while the other was ready on my cart.
Working alongside Director Alison Farmer, our focus was on capturing the essence of the event. We engaged with participants for Vox Pop interviews and documented the panel discussions at the Beach House. Our efforts were complemented by a diligent post-production team who received our daily footage, allowing us to consistently deliver fresh news stories throughout the festival. It was a blend of swift on-ground work and seamless coordination with the team back home, culminating in a successful portrayal of the event's vibrant atmosphere and key discussions.
